Although perhaps considered more for culinary purposes than to aid the body, lemon has long been used as an antiseptic and aid for liver and kidney problems. Lemon contains essential oils, minerals, vitamins A, B1, B2, and C, and niacin.

Like all citrus, lemons are a good source of vitamin C and are also excellent for cleansing the digestive system. When taken with warm water, lemon acts as a mild diuretic and will cleanse the body of toxins. Lemon is also believed to strengthen the immune system.
